Navratna at Taj Samudra, Colombo

Located in the heart of Colombo, the Taj Colombo stands proudly as part of the Taj Group of Hotels. With its prime location, one can expect authentic Indian cuisine. Stepping into Navratna, we were instantly captivated by the intricate murals adorning the walls, transporting us back to the glorious days of the Mughal Empire. The staff, dressed in uniforms that breathed life into history, added to the enchanting ambiance. Now, let's delve into the menu and embark on a culinary journey like no other. Total bill 14,900 for 2 pax    5 🌟 My journey began with a bowl of Shorba LKR 1200  Playfully resembled the yellowy hue of a dhal curry. However, to my delight, this light and milky soup infused with lemon grass than coriander revealed a perfect balance of flavors. I thought it was a dhal curry as the prawns were diced well into the size of lentils.    3 Gulab kai Lassi LKR 1100🥤 While the Falooda Lassi had a unique touch with its rose syrup and was very much fragrant, it didn't qu

Movenpick - High tea experience

For LKR 4100/ -  NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL  - A busy 24th December indeed - Courteous staff  - They had a band playing popular English Christmas songs and Sinhala songs  - whiskey and cigar room had a better ambiance than of the other table settings  From what it use to be I think movenpick has lost its ambience, but the rooftop used to be good, will check it out another day.  So HIGH TEA’s on a holiday event, I would want it to emphasis least on the beverages, like a live action station with variations on tea and coffee, so people may have festive teas like Cinnamon tea.  ginger tea  Chai Yaara  Special coffee,  Eggnog (without alcohol) or for purchase  There were mango cordials and strong coffee & tea in packets instead.  Only the ice coffee was of the highest caliber.  What an uproar SAVORY FINGER FOOD  There was only one tasty pizza: seafood.  I need the chicken lollipops in addition to everything else to make up for the excess dough and the lack of filling.  Cold and dry were t

The Bavarian (German restaurant)

BETTER RESERVE, ON WEEKENDS.    - Dim lit with pub vibe  - Didn’t notice the music  - Courteous old staff who knew the menu well  - Food presentation was basic  - Alcohol is available  - Halal - ? Kid friendly - ? The seats are quite quite compact, so if you are big made corner seats are not the best option. TOTAL BILL VALUE: LKR 21,846/- (2adults with 2 fussy kids)  Disclaimer: This is my fourth time trying the Christmas menu, and although I prefer spicy food, I don't find the menu to be very pleasurable because the items I eat tend to be sugary or undercooked.     4🌟DRY MARTINI  LKR 1265/-   This was strong, but since I feel there is less calories, ill reorder again  Classic and strong  2🌟WHITE CHRISTMAS MARTINI LKR 1300/- It was a cute presentation! I should have known better than to place a marshmallow order! It was far too sweet. But I believe most holiday beverages are usually overly sugary. (I would suggest this as a dessert beverage)  yes its just a festive drink id rathe
