Located in the heart of Colombo, the Taj Colombo stands proudly as part of the Taj Group of Hotels. With its prime location, one can expect authentic Indian cuisine. Stepping into Navratna, we were instantly captivated by the intricate murals adorning the walls, transporting us back to the glorious days of the Mughal Empire. The staff, dressed in uniforms that breathed life into history, added to the enchanting ambiance. Now, let's delve into the menu and embark on a culinary journey like no other.
Total bill 14,900 for 2 pax
5🌟My journey began with a bowl of Shorba LKR 1200
Playfully resembled the yellowy hue of a dhal curry. However, to my delight, this light and milky soup infused with lemon grass than coriander revealed a perfect balance of flavors. I thought it was a dhal curry as the prawns were diced well into the size of lentils.
3 Gulab kai Lassi LKR 1100🥤
While the Falooda Lassi had a unique touch with its rose syrup and was very much fragrant, it didn't quite meet my expectations. I found that the flavors didn't harmonize as well as I had hoped. In hindsight, I would have preferred a simple plain lassi, which often offers a more classic and satisfying experience.
🐟 Grilled Fish - Tender and Flavorful 🐠
The grilled fish showcased a delightful tenderness, though it carried a slightly saltier note compared to the other dishes. Nonetheless, the succulent texture and well-charred exterior added a delightful smoky essence that complemented the dish's overall appeal.
🍤 Grilled Tiger Prawns -
Charred Perfection 🍖
The Grilled Tiger Prawns emerged as a culinary masterpiece, perfectly capturing the essence of grilling with a tantalizing smoky flavor. The juicy interior and charred exterior created a harmonious contrast that showcased the expertise of the chef.
🥟 Coriander Cutlet - A Tasty Twist 🔥
The Coriander Cutlet presented a fusion of flavors with its coriander-infused taste reminiscent of a roasted falafel. The delectable blend of herbs and spices tantalized the palate, providing a savory and aromatic experience.
4 Malai kofta LKR 1800 🌰 (its exotic & is a bit sweet)
The Nutty Bonda surprised my taste buds with its enticing aroma and unique filling. Resembling a paniyaram, this delectable treat encased a nutty pate that emanated a delightful sweetness. The infusion of cardamom lent an exotic touch, elevating the overall flavor profile in a cashew nut gravy.
4 Gajjar Halwa LKR 1500
This is carrot infused with milk and sugar was serve warm, but sad to say i have tested better even though I cannot put my finger on what's missing.
It just came with butter, garlic and plain naan, where as it was suppose to come with paratha and chapati as well.
FUN FACT
What is the difference between kofta and kebab?
What's the difference between Kebab and Kofta? In Middle Eastern cuisine, and more particularly Arab cuisine, there actually isn't a difference between the two. Both are made from ground meat (beef or lamb) and skewered and grilled. Sometimes Kofta can be hand made (without skewers) and cooked on the stove top
