I've heard that Germans don't have as much of a sweet tooth as Americans, so I guess Sri Lankans are similar to Americans in this regard.
I really liked the sweet ginger preserve bits in the first taste since it was soft and tangy like blue cheese. And the coating of sugar undoubtedly provided an extra dose of sweetness in the morning.
This was not at all like the browni I've had in Sri Lanka; rather, it was more like a delicate plain cake with almonds on top. What I found is that the chocolate aftertaste is more prominent than this distinct kind of sweetness which is a plus.
In terms of cinnamon rolls, I would say that this one was inferior to those I've had at Cinnabrown and other home bakers, The filling was more like a light raisin-cinnamon filling, and it was light and flaky but not as flaky as a croissant. (I believe my tastebuds require everything strong)
My verdict as a Sri Lankan (who would not have travelled as much) (my moms POV) It was like a rich tea bun, 😅
