Monsoon

OK, this place is beautiful. People seem almost friendly, but they have a few things that I did not appreciate of the stuff.

Our initial idea was to go to the Japanese restaurant. But at about 530 when we reached there, it was still not open.  We had the options Uncle or monsoon, which was open at that point.

So this is the exact time and I didn’t want to try a dansal. but they were literally giving people ice cream on the road and I was compelled to take it, and of course my hands got messy by the time we went to Park Street.
I wanted to wash my hands The public washroom in Park St., was locked so I asked one of the staff at monsoon if they would have a restroom where I can wash my hands! he was like no ma’am so we were deciding sitting on the bench whether we are going to uncles or monsoon and obviously uncles everybody was sitting outside monsoon seem to have more space and air condition so we decided to go to monsoon and to my surprise. Where did I find a restroom!!

The next thing that I didn’t like about the staff is, they presented as promptly with the menu and we were obviously we had time to kill and it was not packed so we were having a chat and leisurely going through the menu, but we were interrupted like about three times asking are you ready with the order so that was a little bit frustrating and then once we had the first round of drinks we were again asked a couple of times are we ready to order the food so then we ask for recommendations they gave us and we ordered some starters and so ultimately they just kept interrupting us like the moment we finished the food they were ready to clear the table and they were asking do you want anything else? I know it was the promptness is very good but in the middle of the conversation, I don’t think that they should be interrupting in that way, especially when the place is not full! It was only 7pm!

Happy hour is from 5 to 7 by one get one free so we decided to try a few cocktails

Spiced Arrack Sour arrack. lime juice, ogg white

 2250/-

bittors. spiced syrup

Yep as the name suggested, it was pleasantly sour with a strong smell, of Star anise. Love, the fact that it did not have too much sugar in it so yeah, go for it

Asian Crispy Squid. 1950/- (Indonesia)

Singaporean chilli sauce. spring onion. basil crispy fried onions. coriander

This was just like the hot butter cuddle fish, but without too much oil, good squid, and the sauce was more like tamarin sauce, which I loved.

Crispy Cauliflower with Toasted Cashew (Vietnam). 1850 /-

bell pepper. spring onion. hoisin vinegar. coriander chilli, toasted sesame seed

Definitely tasted like our hot butter cut fish in cauliflower version love the addition of cashew nuts

Raspberry Lychee Gin Rickey 2250//

Love, the fact that the soda was not sprite, and the lychee flava on the top was really refreshing but the bottom that was kind of bitter and I was not a fan, but this had a bit more alcohol than the first drink that we tried

Central all day dining- Shangrila buffet

New year dinner for 4 pax without taxes - 50,000/- (12,500 per person)  It was undoubtedly a crowded evening at the Central Cafe in Shangila. We had booked appointments to eat there during the celebrations for the new year. As in usual days they have a variety of menu, but they yet again made it extravagant.  There were several meat carvings, including hog, turkey, and fish, along with a wide selection of sauces, veggies, pickles, and condiments and not mention the ice carvings that one can admire inclusive a cheese fountain.      In 1971, Malaysian entrepreneur Robert Kuok introduced the Shangri-La chain of hotels. The first Shangri-La hotel debuted in Singapore in 1971, and since then the company has grown to include hotels all over the world under its renowned luxury hotel brand. Consequently, you will find some foreign chefs and management maintaining the international standards and it also  adds a Singaporean and Hong Kong touch in their menu. Even tho...
