Brown sugar / Isle Amore

 Total bill with taxes 6105/-

Interior The cafe boasts a minimalist design, with bright decor and a lovely touch of green plants. The space is well-lit by natural light streaming through large windows.

Staff Polite and well-mannered. 📝 We visited around 2 PM and stayed indoors for the air conditioning, but it became quite hot within an hour from where we sat at hall I guess.

4⭐️GREEN POWER DETOX 750/-

A refreshing drink made with spinach, parsley, cucumber, pineapple, and lime juice, lightly sweetened with kithul treacle. It had a slight spinach aftertaste, but I would order it again for its health benefits.

4⭐️BRAZILIAN LEMONADE 850/- (lassi)

The menu described it as a blend of fresh lemon, coconut milk, and condensed milk. However, it tasted more like a lemon LASSI, possibly made with yogurt and lemon. It was pleasant, but I'm not a fan of lassi.

4⭐️BEEF BIRRIA SANDWICH 2400/-

Tender beef braised in a spicy Mexican-inspired broth, topped with melted mozzarella, and served with the broth for dipping.

We were excited for this dish as my friend was craving beef. However, one bite in, we questioned if it was chicken or beef. The staff assured us it was beef, but it tasted like chicken. The chef kindly brought grilled chicken for comparison, but it confirmed our suspicions.

The chef then suggested adding the broth to enhance the flavor, and provided it complimentary as a takeaway. While the broth added flavor, it still tasted like chicken. I even had my husband try it at home, and he also said it tasted like chicken.

I would order this again, but be aware that it tastes like chicken, not BEEF

Both items to compare, right is meat with broth and the other is just CHICKEN!

3⭐️SUMMER SALAD 1550

A fresh mix of cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and iceberg lettuce, dressed with honey, balsamic, and olive oil. It was a nice, fresh salad, though slightly saltier than expected. I would order this again.

👩‍💻FUN FACT

What is the history of beef birria?

To solve this problem, the Spanish started cooking the goat meat with many spices at low temperature for a long time - and invented birria. As birria traveled north through Mexico, it was transformed. Street vendors in Tijuana swapped out the goat meat to make Tijuana-style birria de res (beef birria)

Kaikos - No tax

Brightly lit and featuring a play area for kids with various toys and activities, this space aims to evoke nostalgia with its old Sinhala songs reminiscent of an old Kade. Staff Are nice and welcoming  3.5 ⭐️  Salmon Cheese Sandwich (700/-)  A basic sandwich served hot, with the perfect amount of spice. Although the cheese was hardly noticeable, I'll definitely order this again. 4.5 ⭐️  Latte (650/-)  A perfectly crafted, regular latte without sugar. It’s just right. 4 ⭐️  Coconut Latte (750/-)  I initially thought this would be made with coconut milk, but it’s a regular latte topped with desiccated coconut flakes. Slightly sweeter than the regular latte, it's pleasant but not something I’d order again. 3⭐️Club Sandwich – 1000/- The fries accompanying the sandwich had an unpleasant aftertaste, suggesting that the oil used for frying was subpar. The sandwich itself fell short of a true club sandwich. While it featured multiple layers, the meat—possibly ...

Central all day dining- Shangrila buffet

New year dinner for 4 pax without taxes - 50,000/- (12,500 per person)  It was undoubtedly a crowded evening at the Central Cafe in Shangila. We had booked appointments to eat there during the celebrations for the new year. As in usual days they have a variety of menu, but they yet again made it extravagant.  There were several meat carvings, including hog, turkey, and fish, along with a wide selection of sauces, veggies, pickles, and condiments and not mention the ice carvings that one can admire inclusive a cheese fountain.      In 1971, Malaysian entrepreneur Robert Kuok introduced the Shangri-La chain of hotels. The first Shangri-La hotel debuted in Singapore in 1971, and since then the company has grown to include hotels all over the world under its renowned luxury hotel brand. Consequently, you will find some foreign chefs and management maintaining the international standards and it also  adds a Singaporean and Hong Kong touch in their menu. Even tho...
