Taste of India + sc 10%

Very cute and arty Indian restaurant, it’s not a elegant restaurant, but more of earthy and colorful like a fun village atmosphere.

let's get to the food now as when we ordered this meal we were starving!

4⭐️Samosa Chaat (500/-)
This popular Indian street snack was a nice combination of crunchy samosa shell, chickpeas, and the sweet-sour burst of yogurt, mint, and tamarind chutney. These elements created a flavorful balance,

😫😫but the experience was marred by hygiene concerns when I noticed the server handling food with bare hands—a major downside for this venue

4⭐️Butter Chicken Masala (1800/-)
The butter chicken offered a creamy, rich texture with tender, boneless pieces, capturing the classic indulgent flavor of this dish. The sauce was smooth and comforting, a reliable choice

5🤩Palak Paneer (900/-) (MUST TRY)
Despite its vibrant green appearance, often off-putting to first-timers, this palak paneer was exceptionally well-prepared. The flavors were rich, smooth, and perfectly seasoned. A definite reorder for me

4⭐️Butter Naan (400/- per piece)
Soft and fragrant, the butter naan paired well with the richness of the butter chicken, adding a warm, fluffy element to the meal

4⭐️Atta Roti (350/-)
Simple, wholesome, and a healthier alternative, the atta roti provided a pleasant complement to the meal's richer dishes.

3⭐️Watermelon (500/-)
The watermelon was sweetened with added sugar, which detracted from the natural freshness I would have preferred.

4⭐️Gulab Jamun (300/-)
Served piping hot, these soft, syrup-soaked treats had a melt-in-the-mouth texture—just be cautious with the temperature.

5⭐️Rasmalai (350/-) (MUST TRY)
Lightly sweetened and served chilled, the rasmalai offered soft milk peda soaked in creamy milk, a refreshing contrast to the richer gulab jamun. Its delicate flavor and texture made it a delightful end to the meal

5* Prawn tikka LKR 1700

well marinated, succulent prawns, when I say well marinated it was not salty like other places where you can only taste the masala. and the mint chutney had that lemony kick! just wish they served a lot more salad

5* Australian fry LKR 1100

My be the name "fry" you would have expected this dish to be dry just as I did but still this was pleasant surprise  since I have a thing for healthy food, I really enjoyed this, as it was like a heavy soup with loads of egg and greens, and if you are on a diet or after work out this wound be a ideal meal

4* Jumbo Indian vada pav LKR 500 For the above price this Pav was very filling, it consisted mainly of potatoes and green peas and a lot more spices and came decorated with a variety of sauces like mint and tamarind. one of these and I was not sure ill have dinner! These 4* Punjab samosas LKR 500 remind me of harry potter hats! These had a potato stuffing (of which I am not a fan of) but the shell was crispy and it came piping hot!

3* The mushroom masala LKR 1100 had a very heavy tamarind taste, no complains just  but im not sure if that was what we wanted :D

This special lemonade is a MUST TRY LKR

4🌟Indian Masala chai LKR 400 had the perfect blend of spice and milk, perfect color that goes with a good Masala chai. (This was a light chai that didn’t linger on your toungue

5🤩 Sugar cane juice with lemon 🍋 LKR 330
5⭐️Sugar cane Juice with ginger LKR 330

Sugar Cane juice is a must try. I thought the sugarcane juice will be super sweet but it was quite the contrary. I felt the taste was more like a king coconut juice and the best was with lemon! The ginger one had a hint of a “Karam” but beside the both lemon is the winner

4⭐️Paneer paratha LKR 325
4⭐️Latcha paratha LKR 300
4⭐️Tandoori roti (Maida) 225
All of the above mentioned roti’s were soft and had a hint of ghee

5🤩Fish curry LKR 1450 (lucknow style)
This fish curry was fantastic, it was a cross between tomatoes and tamarind, I think, with aromatic spices, the color may look spicy, but far from it. Careful with the fish bones

5⭐️Prawns Chili dry LKR 1400
It looked like some kind of soy sauces dipped prawns, but I was pleasantly surprised how mild it tasted even though it looked oily and salty. The prawns were quite big too

5⭐️Prawns 65 LKR 1400
Perfect harmony of crispness and juiciness. It did not have any heavy batter, and the had added amchoor powder which gave a pleasent taste of saltiness

5🤩Gulab jamun LKR 250
A big ball, more of home made feel, with a dense milky taste, ask without the syrup as it’s soft by itself!

Total bill including tax LKR 7128

Delicately wrapped, each bite reveals a succulent prawn, offering a taste as light as the ocean breeze. 5🌟 Chicken Scallops and Chives Dumpling LKR1500 Shaped like an ear, with a slight roast enhancing the hidden, lightly flavored meatball. A vibrant presentation adds to the overall experience. 🤩 Sweet and Sour Garupa LKR7000  MUST TRY  The star of the table, initially intimidating with its head and eyes. Central all day dining- Shangrila buffet

New year dinner for 4 pax without taxes - 50,000/- (12,500 per person)  It was undoubtedly a crowded evening at the Central Cafe in Shangila. We had booked appointments to eat there during the celebrations for the new year. As in usual days they have a variety of menu, but they yet again made it extravagant.  There were several meat carvings, including hog, turkey, and fish, along with a wide selection of sauces, veggies, pickles, and condiments and not mention the ice carvings that one can admire inclusive a cheese fountain.      In 1971, Malaysian entrepreneur Robert Kuok introduced the Shangri-La chain of hotels. The first Shangri-La hotel debuted in Singapore in 1971, and since then the company has grown to include hotels all over the world under its renowned luxury hotel brand. Consequently, you will find some foreign chefs and management maintaining the international standards and it also  adds a Singaporean and Hong Kong touch in their menu. Even tho...
