DRINKS
COLD PRESSED JUICE- 950/- 4✩
I went with pineapple, but it was a little too sweet and not as cooled for me. I requested for extra ice, which helped to offset the sweetness.
TIP: Say you don't want any sugar and want it on the side.
ICED MILO - LKR 750/- 4✩
Made With fresh milk, sugar was neutral, and sprinkles were added, which I would have preferred without but my companion enjoyed.
SIDE DISHES
Protein in greens With Maldives fish dip LKR820/- 4✩
Slightly buttered boiled vegetables with a dip which I doubt that it had any Maldive fish in it as per the description. It was more like caramelized onion in a“thick pickle“ consistency a bit sour but complemented the vegetables very well.
SUPER STARTER
Battered cuttlefish LKR 1400/- 5✩
Cuttlefish that had been breaded and deep-fried and was flavorful as well as some colorful papad that was enjoyable to eat with tartar sauce.
MAINS
SALAD
Prawn cocktail LKR 1850/- 5✩
Loved the wooden bowl presentation! It went well with the plain salad, and the prawns had a very subtle flavor. I appreciate that they serve it as a dip rather than adding dressing.
Mediterranean prawns LKR 2250/- 5✩
I love that we received rice and fries! its like two favorite carbs
In contrast to other establishments, the fries were flavorful.
The rice was wonderful and fluffy, and it had some herbs and a great flavor of butter.
The delicious butter sauce that the prawns were covered in really brought out the taste of the rice and prawns.
DESSERTS
Lychee cake - LKR550/- 4✩
Hidden chunks of lychee on top of a moist vanilla cake, Topped with whipped cream,
My Loaded plate!
Another day another review :) ( 17th Aug 23)
We were attended to by a cheerful elderly waiter who had a knack for puns. In the spirit of the moment, we exchanged a few puns ourselves, and since we were in high spirits, we all shared a good laugh about it.
The bill was pleasantly surprising with a 10% inclusive tax, making it quite friendly on the wallet. As a group of three, we decided to opt for the larger portion of the No.23 Peri Peri Prawns priced at LKR 4950, which included a generous serving of 18 prawns along with fried rice. It's worth noting that they offer a smaller portion with 8 prawns for LKR 2500.
The presentation of the dish was elegantly simple, served in a charming wooden bowl that caught our eyes. Despite not usually favoring fries, we couldn't resist the allure of the fresh and perfectly seasoned ones on the plate. Even as someone who typically isn't fond of rice, the non-sticky and pearl-like texture of the fried rice was truly inviting.
Now, let's talk about the highlight of the meal—the tiger prawns. They were bathed in a delectable spicy-sweet sauce that showcased an intricate texture. It was evident that the ingredients had been skillfully blended to create a symphony of flavors and depths in the dish. The taste was unlike the standard sweet and chili sauces we're accustomed to—it was a delightful departure.
One of our choices for beverages was the King Coconut with Lime, priced at LKR 390. The drink was served in the coconut itself, presenting a visually appealing experience. A suggestion would be that once the drink is finished, they could split the coconut to allow customers to enjoy the coconut flesh as well—a personal preference that I believe would enhance the overall experience. Personally, I lean towards enjoying coconut without the lime, as the aftertaste of the lime rind isn't to my liking.
As for the Blue Lagoon, a small size would cost LKR 590. However, I didn't personally order this drink, so I'm unable to provide a review on its taste or presentation.
Did you enjoy reading this review as much as i did?
